O When Wilt Thou Come To Me? Now?

Amy Lively

Dear Rosewood Cafe friends,

So, have you been behaving yourself this week? OK, Here’s an easier question: have you memorized Psalm 101:2?

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. (KJV)

As I write this, Emma has fallen asleep with her hand on my arm like she did when she was a baby. At 13, I know these times will become fewer and further between. I want to be a wise woman, a wise Mom, while I’m still allowed to hold her hand and stroke her hair (well, she’s always hated to have her hair messed with). Lord, I need Your presence to come to me to help me behave! How about, like, now? I need Him, and I need you – my Good Godly Girlfriends – to keep me on track!

The handout (with answers!) is below, and the prayer requests were posted separately. Please come prepared next time to discuss the Second Cup devos on the second page. Thanks in advance to Anita (bread) and Suzette (fruit) for bringing snack when we meet again on February 26. I can’t wait to see you then!

Love,

Amy

I couldn’t help but grin when you shared how Emma fell asleep with her hand on your arm and you stroked her hair–you’re right, she HAS always hated her hair to be “messed with”. It reminded me of the time when years ago, she must have been about six or seven, when she was playing outside here at our house and got so dirty that she had to shower and afterwards I begged her, when she was all wound up in a towel, to let me, her “beloved Mimi” to comb out her hair and dry it into a flip, and she absolutely would not let me! That’s the closest she ever came to really hurting my feelings! ;-) So all you mom’s out there, Amy’s right, soak in all those precious moments that don’t seem to mean a lot now but will years from now–like watching you child when they are asleep and praying over them to grow strong in the Lord and learn to “walk wisely” in their own house. It’s the every day moments like that that you’ll miss the most when they’re gone.

Thanks Donna and Amy for the reminder that the precious moments of motherhood are fleeting. Evie went to school today for the third day in the last 2 months…that’s right…for almost 2 full months, I have been a FULL-TIME mom and hey, no one told me vacationing with my family would be harder than being at home with them!! Furthermore, Daddy took Jonathan to the office, to give me a much-needed break…(yes, he noticed and no, I was not behaving wisely)…and alas, the house got very quiet, almost morbidly so, as the truck rambled out of the driveway and the dryer shut-off almost simultaneously.

I’m not sure what to do first, paint my nails, eat bon-bons or call up a friend and complain about something!! Interesting how God directed me to check emails and your site, Amy…May He be praised forever for His lovingkindness and for His provision in EVERY moment and season of our lives!!

    Laura
