We are going to study Lysa TerKeurst’s fab new book, Made to Crave. Here’s a preview:
Craving isn’t a bad thing.
I read half of this book to make sure it would be a good Bible study for the Rosewood Cafe – and trust me, it is! I didn’t want to get too far ahead so we could do it together. We all know Lysa from Proverbs 31 (remember when we went to see her in Mount Vernon?), and I for one found her words downright uncomfortable. As I was reading, I kept in mind that many of us at the Rosewood Cafe don’t struggle with food issues – and this book also addresses our cravings for possessions, relationships, perfection… you name a hang up, it’s covered.
From the back cover:
Has food become more about frustration than fulfillment? Made to Crave is the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen. Author Lysa TerKeurst personally understands the battle that women face. In Made to Crave, she will help you:
- Break the cycle of “I’ll start again on Monday,” and feel good about yourself today.
- Stop agonizing over numbers on the scale and make peace with your body.
- Replace rationalization that leads to diet failure with wisdom that leads to victory.
- Reach your healthy goals and grow closer to God through the process.
This book is not a how-to manual or the latest, greatest dieting plan. Made to Crave is a helpful companion to use alongside whatever healthy eating approach you choose — a book and Bible study to help you find the “want to” in how to make healthy lifestyle changes.
Materials
Made to Crave has a book, Participant’s Guide and DVD. I have the DVD’s but we will each need to purchase a book and Participant’s Guide. Please let me know if you plan to attend and I will place a book order. The cost is $25 per person. If the cost is prohibitive and would keep you from attending, we will provide the materials for you.
You will get your materials at the first Cafe on February 4. This is a 7-week study:
Session 1: From Deprivation to Empowerment
Session 2: From Desperation to Determination
Session 3: From Guilt to Peace
Session 4: From Triggers to Truth
Session 5: From Permissible to Beneficial
Session 6: From Consumed to Courageous
Bonus Session: Moving the Mountain
Lysa was featured in today’s Tip of the Week from my friends at WomensMinistry.net, which you can read here. Before we meet in February, please print this free download WM.net provided and spend some time answering these questions:
By the way, the Tip of the Week email newsletter will feature two articles I wrote on January 12 and 19. If you don’t receive the Tip of the Week, you can sign up here. It’s truly a great resource.
Please let me know if you plan to join us so that I can order our materials. Feel free to invite a friend or neighbor! Let me know if you’d like to help with snack on February 4.
I can’t wait to lay eyes on you all again! May God bless you until then,

Hi Amy,
