Distributing “Bookbags for the Homeless”

Amy Lively

It’s time to pass out the bookbags! Last year, 130 bags were distributed on Christmas Eve; more will be shared at shelters, dinners, churches and agencies. This year, the need is greater than ever so we are unsure how many people will be there. Here are the details:

Nick’s Pizza, 702 W Wheeling Street, Lancaster

Thursday, December 24

8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Come whenever you can!

I am going to arrive at 7:45 am and plan to stay for about an hour. Debbie said there isn’t a lot of room out front so it will be great if we come at different times throughout the morning. She will be there until noon. Children and teens are welcome to help! Also, the church next door is having a free clothing giveaway that morning. Be prepared to offer smiles, handshakes, hugs and kindness – and be prepared for the Lord to move your heart as you offer your hands. As Debbie said:

THE LORD has been in control through out this whole thing, and I know that however, and where ever this goes it will be his will and HE will open doors where HE wants. I am just willing to walk through those doors even if when it freaks me out. I know I am on a journey of learning so much from this. HE is using this to help me grow and overcome my fears and it’s sooo cool ( and scary at times) to walk down, and I’m loving it. Today, I’m ready.

If you’re doing some last minute Christmas shopping, the following items are still needed:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Rain ponchos
  • Hats
  • Gloves

Merry Christmas, Dear Friends! Love, Amy
